Mixed Use Development Church Street Brighton

Set in the North Laine Conservation Area of Brighton, this mixed use development utilises the tight urban grain of the area and sloping site to create a design that knits into the context. Incorporating a private landscaped courtyard the scheme comprises nine townhouses together with retail outlets and small office units above an underground car park. The project demonstrates how contemporary buildings can blend into historic environments through the careful use of contextual materials and respect for the scale of surrounding buildings. The result is a truly sustainable development that will repair the urban fabric and enhance the conservation area.

Clad in a dark german brick with windows set in varying positions to articulate the facade, the building with its sparkling, white interior is an essay in subtle sophistication. The project has already won a number of prestigious awards, including the RIBA Regional Award and the New London Architecture Award.

New Private House Brighton

With beautiful views of both the sea and the South Downs National Park, this new house takes full advantage of its unique setting and south facing slope. The design utilises the slope to place the main living rooms on the first floor which together with an indoor swimming pool and family room create a sheltered courtyard that is protected from the prevailing winds. The bedrooms on the floor above give level access to terraces and sedum roofs which lead directly onto the garden to the rear. The whole building has been designed to address the needs of a young family, embrace all the encompassing views whilst creating a stunning new family home.
