Bayside Hotel & The Reserve | Gibraltar

We are delighted to report that in July we received planning approval for a 150 bedroom hotel and resort deck in Gibraltar. This is an exciting project that will bring a much needed hotel into the heart of Ocean Village alongside another of our projects, the World Trade Center.

At the same planning meeting we also received a minor amendment approval for our project, ‘The Reserve’.

The Reserve | Gibraltar

On our visit to Gibraltar to the site of our project, The Reserve, the enormity of the excavation for the building and the rock sockets is clearly visible. The rock sockets are to take a series of trusses that will span historic water tanks to support the building over. The building, whilst having the appearance of a single construction is split into two halves. The South end is built over the historic water tanks and supported on the trusses whilst the North end is founded onto rock. This is an exciting project and we are pleased to see work progressing well.

Regeneration of Newhaven Marina

Artist’s impression of the main square along the 600m stretch of Riverside Walk

Planning permission for 400 riverside homes, has been unanimously approved by Lewes District Council’s planning committee.

The scheme also includes a 50 bedroom apartment hotel with gym, various restaurants and cafes. The 300 berth marina is to be completely reconfigured and facilities for berth holders and marina users will be greatly improved.

Owned by Baron’s Bay, Newhaven Marina, is the third phase of the West Quay Regeneration Project masterplanned by Morgan Carn Architects and will complete the transformation of the West side of Newhaven.

Director John McLean said “We are delighted that the planning committee unanimously approved such an ambitious application. We are extremely proud to have delivered the first two phases and our mixed-use Marina scheme for Baron’s Bay is by far the most important project we have ever worked on in Newhaven. It will deliver 400 high quality riverside homes, including 141 retirement apartments and many more public benefits including the continuation of the Riverside Walkway allowing public access to the waterfront, which has always been a top priority. We have worked closely with the town council and local residents for many years and share their passion for Newhaven. We hope that the Marina will be a catalyst for further investment in the town”.

In addition to the West Quay, Morgan Carn Architects has 150 new houses for Stonewater Housing Association nearing completion on site on the former Parker Pen site as the first phase of their masterplan to transform the Eastside of Newhaven. A pre-application exhibition of Morgan Carn’s proposals for the former Port office site on the Eastside will be announced very soon.

A few snapshots of work in progress on our project in Newhaven. This is being built by Hill Partnership for the developer, Stonewater. It is 145 units and is a mix of shared ownership and social housing. It is a very exciting project and is built around an extension to an existing recreation ground with phase one nearing completion. At the entrance there will be bespoke totems in the shape of fountain pens as the site is the old Parker Pen factory. Bollards have been designed to replicate fountain pen barrels. More photos to come.
